Volunteers are the beating heart of our House. Without our incredible team of Volunteers, Holden Street would not be able to survive.
We appreciate any time that volunteers can offer us, whether it be on a regular basis, for special events or for House maintenance. Check out our Volunteering Opportunities below.

Special Event Volunteer
Our Special Events calendar is something that Holden Street is very proud of. We have frequent Community Morning Teas, Community Lunches, Outings/Excursions, and larger Community Events. We are always appreciative of any extra hands that can help with the running of the events. Whether that be taking drinks orders for our Morning Tea, manning a stall at one of our Festivals, or assisting with the setup for our Community Lunch, there is almost always something we could use your help with! Check out our Events Calendar to see if there are any upcoming events that you might be interested in volunteering for.

Administration Volunteer
There is so much that goes on behind-the-scenes at Holden Street. We are always on the lookout for an extra helping hand to assist the admin team. Our more general tasks may include photocopying, filing, sorting, researching and spreadsheet creation (if confident in this area). However, we are also looking for more specialised volunteers that have skills that could help us at Holden Street.
-
Program Assistant Volunteer
At Holden Street we run a variety of different programs, some that are taught by a Tutor and others that are Volunteer-led. In order for us to maximise the impact of our tutor-led programs, we often have Volunteers supporting the needs of our tutors and occasionally assisting with participants’ tasks. Our Volunteer-led programs, groups & activities tend to be more focused on creating social connections and engagement for participants. Our Volunteer Leaders are supported in their programs by Holden Street staff, and are encouraged to explore new potential program opportunities and ideas.

House Maintenance Volunteer
Our House gets a lot of love every day. While we aim to keep everything in peak condition, we often find ourselves struggling with the time and budget required to complete extra maintenance tasks around the House. In these times, we may reach out for extra support from volunteers to help us with the upkeep of our beautiful Neighbourhood House. We occasionally require more specialised assistance in the form of handy-work, carpenters, painters, etc. If you, or anybody that you know would be willing to help us from time-to-time with tasks around the House, we would be beyond grateful. We also run a Working Bee twice per year to help us with some of the larger jobs around Holden Street. Lots of hands make light work, so we would appreciate all the help that we can get on these days!
-
Garden Volunteer
Get that green thumb out and help us keep our Holden Street Garden spaces alive and green! Our Garden Volunteers usually meet as part of our ‘garden club’ once a month, but regularly come to tend to the garden between sessions. We’re always looking for new volunteers to assist with the maintenance of our garden, so if you’re interested in joining us, please get in touch!

Brochure Volunteer
Every term Holden Street releases a new brochure with all the latest and greatest program & activity information. We are lucky to have some volunteers that assist with the distribution of our brochures throughout their local neighbourhood. We are always seeking extra hands to help with the folding and distribution of our brochures at the beginning of each term.
