Our Team

  • Mary Parfrey- Manager

Mary joined Holden Street in 2020 as part of the team and was confirmed as Manager in March 2021. She is a seasoned practitioner in the neighbourhood house sector and has dual advanced Diplomas in Management and Management of a Community Service. The social justice principles guide her practice and she is passionate about the importance of community organisations in advocating for, and meeting, local needs together with community members. Drop-in and have a chat with her any time.

  • Robyn Carey- Program Coordinator

Robyn has been with us at Holden Street for over 11 years. Robyn grew up in a small potato - growing district of Gordon, and attended school in Ballarat. She moved to Melbourne to study Science, and never left...

Robyn has lived on the Merri Creek for over 25 years, and loves the area. An avid bike rider, no-where is far from North Fitzroy! Robyn’s boys attended nearby schools, and her family is involved in local sporting clubs.

For Robyn, her work at Holden Street Neighbourhood House is an important extension of her connection to this vibrant, diverse community.

  • Bella Engelander- Community Development Coordinator

We welcomed Bella to the Holden Street team at the beginning of 2021, and she has hit the ground running. Bella’s background in program coordination, marketing and fundraising has provided her with great experiences and knowledge, which we are sure will help us to bring new and exciting opportunities to Holden Street.

  • Julie Poloni- Finance Officer

We were thrilled when finance guru, Julie Poloni, joined us at Holden Street in March of 2021. Julie is a seasoned Chartered Accountant with experience in both not for profit and corporate workplaces. She loves traveling, volunteering for social justice causes and dogs. We have already seen how Julie’s wealth of experience can change our House for the better.

  • Julia Huska - Administration Officer

Julia has had such a fun and positive experience joining the team here at Holden Street as the Administration Officer. You’ll see Julia in the office and around the house every morning helping with the day to day running of the house. Come say hey and ask her any questions about upcoming events, house hire inquiries, tasty vegan recipes or just to have a chat. Julia came to Holden Street post lockdown, looking for a new experience and continues to enjoy using pre-existing skills in new ways and developing new skills daily. It doesn’t take long to see how special the community is here at Holden Street Neighbourhood House and Julia is very happy to be a part of our community.
